The visit to the Cocococha Lake is a unique opportunity of watching a family of Gigant River Otters and observing rare birds like Hornet Screamers wich are massive birds that fly so elegantly like herons and the Clay lick can result in a wonderful show of bright and colorful macaws that come down to the clay lick to nourrish themselves with this red clay to clean their bodies from toxins that they have ingested from eating unripe fruits, you will understand this complex & behavior with the help of one of our naturalist guides.

Day 1

Airport Reception in Puerto Maldonado and transfer to the Lodge.
Jungle Guide informative talk on an outboard canoe.
Animal species, the vegetation changes from colonized deforested areas to the National Reserve
Box lunch boat.
Arrival at the Lodge.
Briefing given by the lodge manager who will provide some stay tips
short break.
Walk to the Sunset trail.
Alligators talk given by our Jungle Guide focused on species that occur in Tambopata
Dinner.
Out in search of alligators.

Day 2

We start our activities at 5:00 a.m. – 5:30 a.m. for breakfast.
Heading to Lake Cocococha on the way you may see various forest types (Bamboo, floodplain forest, upland forest to the lake).
5.5.km (approx 2 hours). (1.30) equal to 2.30 hours walk.
On the way you will be able to see birds like tanagers, turkeys, nun birds, some woodpeckers, monkeys and larger mammals.
We will wait for the giant otter either on a blind spot or paddling around the lake, after a while you can also paddle on a catamaran in the allowed area for tourist-use.
Return to the lodge – short break.
Lunch 1 pm.
Short break.
Visit the 42 meters high tower, where we will have a wonderful view of the forest.
Explanation of the vertical layers of the forest (in the tower) – you will have a espectular view of the jungle and see the sunset.
Dinner.
Night walk – in search of the many creatures such as insects and hopefully bigger animals.

Day 3

Out before dawn at 5:20 a.m.
Visit “clay lick” Parrot that is 10 minutes by boat from the Lodge.
You can observe different species of parrots and parakeets eating clay.
Return to the lodge.
After enjoying breakfast 7:30 to 8:00 a.m. – Short break
9.30 farm, visit to a local farm to learn about how locals run a crop plantation.
Return on average time for Lunch.
Short break.
15:30 Walk – Laguna Chica – 20 min. (700m) – Bird watching – Contemplation of nature.
Return to the lodge.
Short break.
Dinner.
Night walk – in search of the many creatures such as insects and hopefully bigger animals.
